Clear the clutter, clear the path: How decluttering your space, mind, and emotions unlocks the law of attraction

Written on 03/11/2025

You know that feeling when you finally clear out a cluttered drawer and suddenly life just feels lighter? It’s like the energy shifts, making space for fresh ideas and new possibilities. As Maya Angelou once said, "we need much less than we think we need." And she wasn’t wrong.

When it comes to the law of attraction, clearing clutter is more than just tidying up. It's about creating room for the things you actually want to flow into your life. Think of it as making space for abundance. Whether it’s your home, your mind, or your energy, clearing out the old makes space for the new.

But before you start sorting through the chaos, pause for a moment. What are you really calling in? Clarity? Confidence? More ease? Set your intention first, and let that guide your process. Because when you align your energy with what you truly desire, the universe can meet you there. The magic happens in the clearing.

Find yourself a quiet spot, grab a pen and some paper, and take a moment to really sink into these questions. No rush, no pressure, just you, your thoughts and a little space to reflect.

🍃  What do I want to create space for in my life?
🍃  How will decluttering support my wellbeing?
🍃  What emotions or beliefs do I need to release to feel freer?

Let yourself be honest. Scribble, doodle, brain-dump, do whatever helps you get those thoughts flowing. This isn’t about perfection; it’s about clearing the mental (and maybe even physical) clutter so you can move forward feeling lighter, clearer and more you.

Clear your space, clear your mind

You know that feeling when your space is a mess, and suddenly everything else in life feels 10x harder? Physical clutter has a sneaky way of creeping into our minds, making everything feel a little more overwhelming. But don’t worry, we’re not about to tell you to declutter your entire home in one go (because, honestly, who has the energy for that?).

Instead, start small. One drawer. One shelf. One tiny corner of a room. Baby steps, right? And when you’re ready to tackle a bigger space, try the four-pile method, it’s simple but seriously effective:

Keep the things you love and actually use. If you’re eyeing your overflowing wardrobe, check out project333 - a fun little challenge to downsize your closet for three months.

Donate anything in good condition that someone else might need—because your “meh” might be someone else’s treasure.

Recycle or upcycle things that can be repurposed. Get creative!

Toss anything that’s beyond saving. No guilt—just let it go.

Once you’ve cleared the space, give it a good wipe-down (trust us, it makes a difference). Refresh the energy with something natural like sage, lavender, citrus or whatever makes it feel fresh (we’re obsessed with Purdy & Figg). Then, organise things in a way that actually makes life easier. Less stress, more clarity (sounds good, right?)

Declutter your mind

Clearing your space is one thing, but what about all the noise in your head? Mental clutter—those racing thoughts, worries and endless distractions can weigh just as heavy as a messy room. The good news? You can clear it out, just like you would a junk drawer. Here’s how…

📝 Brain dump it out
Set a timer for 10 minutes and just write. No filter, no overthinking, just let your thoughts spill onto the page. This isn’t about making sense or sounding poetic; it’s about releasing all that mental buildup. Bonus? Doing this before bed can actually improve sleep quality (science says so!).

🌬 Breathe with intention
When in doubt, breathe it out. Try this: inhale for four counts, hold for four, exhale for four. Repeat 5-10 times and notice how your body (and mind) starts to soften. Simple but so effective.

📱 Audit your energy-drainers
What’s subtly draining you? Too much social media? Overcommitting? That sneaky little inner critic? Pinpoint the biggest culprits and set some boundaries—maybe a weekly social media detox or saying no to things that don’t serve you. Small shifts = big difference.

Your mind deserves space to breathe, just like your home does. Clear it out, lighten the load, and make room for more you.

Release and reset

Sometimes you just need a reset, a chance to clear out the emotional baggage: old feelings, grudges, self-doubt… all the stuff that quietly weighs you down. The good news? You don’t have to carry it. You get to let it go.

📝 Write it out, then release it
Jot down any emotions, limiting beliefs or nagging thoughts that no longer serve you. Then tear it up and/ or burn it (safely, of course), or even flush it away. It sounds simple, but trust us, it’s powerful.

💭 Rewire your inner dialogue
That little voice in your head? Make it kinder. Whenever self-doubt creeps in, counter it with affirmations like:

✨ I am worthy of happiness, clarity and peace
✨ I release what no longer serves me
✨ I am growing, evolving and becoming my best self

Think of it as gently rewriting the story you tell yourself—because you’ve got this.

🔍 Check in on your relationships
Ask yourself: Do the people in your life uplift or drain you? Do they support your growth, or do they take more than they give? Your energy is precious, so protect it.

Keep the clarity going

Decluttering (whether it’s your space, mind or emotions) isn’t a one-and-done thing, it’s a practice. Keep things light, clear and intentional with these simple habits:

✔ Daily tidying ritual Just 5-10 minutes a day to put things in order. Tiny efforts = big difference.

✔ Mindful buying Before buying anything, ask yourself: Does this truly add value to my life? If not, leave it.

✔ Use full moons as checkpoints as they are  natural reset moments. Use them to reassess your space, mindset and energy.

Decluttering isn’t just about removing things, it’s about making space for what truly matters.

Embrace the fresh start

Before you rush to the next thing, take a moment, really take a moment to acknowledge all the clearing, releasing, and decluttering you’ve done. That work matters. Every little step you take adds up, bringing more balance, clarity and ease into your life.

Once you’ve started the process, trust it. Big or small, the shifts you’ve made are moving you in the right direction. With a little intention and consistency, you’ll start to feel more organised, more grounded and more like you. Keep going - you’ve totally got this!
